About the Ellomwe language

In Malawi Ellomwe language is spoken in the Southern part of the country in about five districts of Phalombe, Thyolo, Mulanje Chiradzulu and parts of Zomba. Llomwe is a Bantu language which is also spoken in Mozambique. No Bible in Ellomwe has been published in Malawi and Ellomwe speakers have been using Chichewa Bibles for their use as Christians.

The Llomwe language is written using the Roman alphabet. Research has shown that Llomwe in Malawi is not mutually intelligible with Llomwe in Mozambique, has a result it was found necessary to translate the Bible in Ellomwe using a dialect that is widely used in Malawi.
